"The Earth is Art.The Photographer is only a Witness"
Yann Arthus-Bertrand was born in March 1946. At the age of 30 he moved to Kenya with his wife Anne to study lions in the Maasai Mara Reserve and discovered a unique way of capturing the beauty of the natural world, flying over the landscape in a balloon. Earth from the Air was a massive project for Yann. He spent ten years carefully researching the landcapes he has selected, flying over 76 countries and clocking up 3,000 flying hours by helicopter. Earth from the Air has taken him to Antarctica, Alaska, southern Argentina, Australia, Siberia and Africa. With over 100,000 shots in the collection, Yann has chosen the 160 exhibits to communicate his own vision. But is what he has produced 'Art'? Yann's way of answering that question is simple. "I have a concern to be a witness for future generations. The Earth is Art, the photographer is only a witness. " The result is an evocative exhibition with an emotive message. Yann Arthus-Bertrand has produced 60 books of his work and holds the the most prestigious award in France, the Legion D'Honneur, for his photographic work on the environment. He now lives in France where he founded the Altitude Agency in Paris, specialising in aerial photogprahy.

Action Carbone
When Yann Arthus-Bertrand set up the Action Carbone program he had one goal in mind: to reduce his personal impact on climate change. By funding projects in the fields of energy-efficiency, renewable energies and reforestation, Yann Arthus-Bertrand hopes to offset the greenhouse gas emissions caused by his activities. Good Planet has created the Action Carbone program, in collaboration with its chairman, Yann Arthus Bertrand. His aim is to encourage businesses, institutions and citizens to do the same: to tackle climate change to protect mankind.
